“Divagation Vendéenne”, “Vendée's Drifting”, shows Fabien’s wanderings in the Breton Vendée marshlands.

Divagation Vendéenne「Vendee's Drifting」は、大西洋岸沿いに広がるヴァンデ湿原を彷徨い歩く、ファビアンの作品シリーズです。

For this series Fabien used the old handmade Japanese retouching technique that dates back to the years 1920 - 1930 called "Zokin-Gake".

このシリーズでは、1920 〜1930 年代に ”雑巾掛け”と呼ばれた日本の古いレタッチ技法が使われています。

Divagation Vendéenne,「Vendee's Drifting」は、大西洋岸沿いに広がるヴァンデ湿原を彷徨い歩く、ファビアンの作品シリーズです。このシリーズでは、1920 〜1930 年代に ”雑巾掛け”と呼ばれた日本の古いレタッチ技法が使われています。「写真と “雑巾掛け” 、この2つの表現によって、湿原に足を踏み入れた瞬間に感じた得も言えぬ根源的な憂鬱がよみがえります。そして（この2つの表現を手にしたことで）、幸運にも、子供の頃、いつもバカンスを過ごした懐かしい場所に戻れたのです」

“Divagation Vendéenne”, “Vendée's Drifting”, shows Fabien’s wanderings in the Breton Vendée marshlands. For this series Fabien used the old handmade Japanese retouching technique that dates back to the years 1920 - 1930 called "Zokin-Gake". As Fabien says – “Together with the images and the "Zokin-Gake" it brings back certain melancholy that touched me when I first arrived in those marshlands. As luck would have it, I went back to where I spent a good part of my childhood holidays.”

ファビアン・ドゥボワ（Fabien DUBOIS）1983 年フランス生の写真家。白黒写真に魅了された彼は、アナログ写真のさまざまな技法や方法を独学で探り、実践を続ける。そして彼が見出したのは、写真を媒体として自らの存在のありかを写し出す方法。ファビアンの写真は、消え去るもの、あるいは、消えて見えるものを記録するための手法です。そして、7年前、真夜中のパリの街にうごめく精神の空虚さを撮ることで、自らが撮るべき場所、理由を取り戻したと言います。真夜中のパリを写した彼のシリーズは、「Nocturn」というタイトルで2019年に自費出版、展示公開。その他の作品には、フランス海岸沿いの静かな風景など、あるがままに生きる野生に焦点を当てたシリーズがあります。
そしてこの度、写真家・尾仲浩二さんとギャラリー街道の協力を得て、2019 年パリのin)(between ギャラリーで展示された「Off the record vol.11 Divagation Vendéenne」の日本初の展示公開が実現しました。

Dubois Fabien a self-taught photographer born in France in 1983. Somewhat lost in his thoughts being an artist captivated by black and white, and highly curious about different techniques and methods of analog photography and with photography as his medium and his main way of existence his thinking is to document things that tend to disappear. And since about 7 years, he has taken back his place in photography documenting the late hours of spiritual emptiness throughout the streets of Paris, a series published and exhibited under the title - Nocturne , 2019 self-published – his other series focus on the wild and silent landscapes of coastal France.

Fabien’s last solo exhibition was in 2019 - Off the record v.11 - Divagation Vendéenne - at in)(between gallery, Paris - and now with the support of Koji Onaka and Kaido Gallery we are bringing those oeuvres to Japan in November 2022.
