Darkroom Workshops and Services

We focus on analog B&W photographic techniques. Our final products are Handmade Photographs by the gelatin silver process for black-and-white films and printing papers. The different workshops review the darkroom theory and process while the participants handmade their own gelatin silver photographs and display them at in)(between’s “Back Room” gallery for a week following the workshop.

Handmade Photographs™ Gelatin Silver Paper Prints

Film photography (Gelatin Silver Photographs or Handmade Photographs™) is a photographic technique introduced by Richard Leach Maddox in 1871 for obtaining a photograph by a photochemical process in which a film sensitive to light coated with small crystals (called grains) of silver salts such as silver bromide and silver chloride are exposed to light, then its development to obtain negatives and finally the hand-making of paper prints.
